  6. Here are the facts about registration  of QuickBBS from The QuickBBS Group,
  7. Inc.
  8.  
  9. 1.   Registration is required if you are going to use the products  sold by
  10.      The QuickBBS Group.  This includes all  versions of QuickBBS  released
  11.      after November 1,  1989. If you registered with Adam Hudson to use any
  12.      of his versions (1.0x, 2.03, 2.04, etc.) then you may continue  to use
  13.      those versions as long  as you wish. As I understand  it, Mr. Hudson's
  14.      license granted  permission to use  his software  forever, but  please
  15.      understand that when Adam sold QuickBBS, he relinquished all rights to
  16.      future registrations and  transferred all rights  to our company,  The
  17.      QuickBBS Group, Inc.
  18.  
  19. 2.   A license from Mr.  Hudson to use his products is NOT a license to use
  20.      the products sold by The QuickBBS Group, Inc.
  21.  
  22. 3.   A  single  user license  is  available  at the  introductory  price of
  23.      $45.00US, this license grants the Sysop to use QuickBBS version 2.x as
  24.      released by The QuickBBS Group, Inc. 
  25.  
  26. 4.   Any person who  registered an  earlier version of  QuickBBS (2.04  and
  27.      before) will be given a credit of the full registration amount  (up to
  28.      $25.00US) when they register a new  version of QuickBBS available from
  29.      The QuickBBS Group, Inc.
  30.  
  31. 5.   The QuickBBS Group, Inc. uses a  security key system on QuickBBS. This
  32.      key will  allow the  operation of  any QuickBBS  program version  2.50
  33.      (beta) and  above. The  key is REQUIRED  for the  operation of  a Beta
  34.      version. 
  35.  
  36.      A general  release version  of QuickBBS  (starting with  version 2.60)
  37.      will allow evaluation without  a key. This is to allow  the Sysop time
  38.      to determine if  they choose to purchase  the product and if  it meets
  39.      their needs.  This  is consistent  with  the philosophy  of  Shareware
  40.      distribution.

  42.      There is no difference between QuickBBS  running in evaluation mode or
  43.      in registered mode, except that the Registered mode will identify it's
  44.      self  as Registered  to: "Sysop Name"  to it's  callers and  will show
  45.      [REGISTERED] on the tear  line of echo mail. The  evaluation mode says
  46.      nothing on login during the evaluation  period, and shows [EVALUATION]
  47.      on the tear line. QuickBBS is not and never will be "cripple-ware".

  49. 6.   The  registration  fee  will  provide  for  use of  ALL  release  2.xx
  50.      versions, there will never be an additional fee charged for new  minor
  51.      releases.  There may  be a nominal  charge for major  releases to help
  52.      defray development costs. Major releases will also provide significant
  53.      enhancements to the program.

  55. 7.   Printed documentation is available after 15 Feb 1990, by mail from the
  56.      QuickBBS  Group, the  charge  is $15.00US  and includes  shipping. The
  57.      documentation is typeset and includes a 360K diskette with the current
  58.      release version and a hard cover binder.
  59.  
  60.      If you wish the software in another format please  state your required
  61.      type of media and include $5.00 for the media and special handling. We
  62.      support all IBM standard formats through 1.44Mb 3.5" diskettes.

  81. Direct login to the support systems is also available by calling the  above
  82. numbers  and entering the following  when  asked for  the first  login name
  83. prompt.

  87. This  will automatically  transfer you to  the support  board. Once  in the
  88. support   board  you  will  need  to  register  with  your  real  name  and
  89. information. If you  were registered on Adam Hudson's support BBS that name
  90. and password will work on this system as well.
